Alexandria rugby star Duncan Munn reflects on "dream come true" Glasgow Warriors debut

Alexandria rugby star Duncan Munn has said that making his Glasgow Warriors debut was “a dream come true.”

The talented 20-year-old centre made his first appearance for the Warriors first team as a late replacement for Scotland star Duncan Weir at Scotstoun last month - helping the Warriors to a dramatic 17-13 comeback victory against Cardiff.

And having grown up as a fan of the Warriors whilst a player at Bonhill based Loch Lomond RFC, he admitted that becoming Warrior number 360 was a special moment.

Duncan told the Lennox: “I was chuffed to get on and knew what I had to do. I had messages to give to the other players. I wasn’t focused on the crowd or anything else.

“I have been supporting the club since I was a child, so it was pretty cool to go from that to pulling on the jersey for the first time.

“It’s pretty crazy and wasn’t something I would’ve ever imagined or expected when “I was going to games years ago as a fan.

“All the centres and the backs have been a massive help to me since the first day I came in.

“They called me over to join in with the passing exercises they were doing.

“During the week the more experienced players like Stafford (McDowall), TJ (Tom Jordan) and Josh McKay all said to just ask them if I had any questions, or just to speak to them in the warmup.

“I really appreciated that.

“It was nerve-wracking making your debut for your childhood club, but the guys have been really good. Especially leading up to my debut. We’ve got a really tight group.”
