Englishman Matthew Carley to referee Champions Cup final

English referee Matthew Carley wil take charge of the Investec Champions Cup final between Leinster and Toulouse on Saturday week.

It's Carley's first time refereeing the showpiece collision, which takes place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Carley's assistants will be his compatriot Karl Dickson and Italy’s Andrea Piardi, with Ian Tempest, another Englishman, as TMO and Italian Stefano Marrama the match citing commissioner.

Leinster reached the final thanks to an enthralling 20-17 win against Northampton Saints earlier this month. Leo Cullen's side are hunting a fifth European crown.

In the other semi-final, Toulouse got the better of Harlequins, 38-26. The French powerhouses could win the competition for a sixth time.

Meanwhile Mathieu Raynal of France will referee the EPCR Challenge Cup final between Gloucester and the Hollywoodbets Sharks, which takes place the night before the Champions Cup at the same venue.

Raynal will have Ireland’s Andrew Brace and Pierre Brousset of France running the line, with Eric Gauzins (France) as TMO and Ed Kenny (Ireland) as citing commissioner.
