New bus route launches to RHS Garden Bridgewater - with riders getting discounted entry tickets

A bus route has been extended to RHS Garden Bridgewater to make it easier for visitors to travel there using public transport - and they can get cheaper entry tickets as a result. The X50 bus route now runs from Manchester Piccadilly and the Trafford Centre to RHS Bridgewater.

The extended route, operated by Diamond, launched on March 24 and will run until September 28, covering the peak visitor times of spring and summer at the garden. The bus will stop at Bridgewater, in Worsley, Salford every 30 minutes, from approximately 10.40am to 5pm on weekdays, and to 4.40pm at weekends.

Travelling via public transport means visitors can bag themselves discounted tickets to the garden, with 30per cent off. A standard adult ticket to Bridgewater costs £15.85, excluding gift aid, but a car-free travel ticket for an adult costs £11.10 excluding gift aid (although you will need proof of car-free travel, such as a bus ticket).

A standard child ticket (aged five to 16) costs £7.95 without gift aid, while a car-free ticket is £5.55. Car-free tickets also apply to those who cycle and walk to the garden.

Fran Wilkinson, customer and growth director at TfGM, said: “By extending the X50 we are helping people get from both the city centre and the Trafford Centre to the gardens at RHS Bridgewater – giving them a great opportunity to enjoy a day out this summer.

“The extension also joins the gardens up with rail, tram and local bus services as well as the Park and Ride at the Trafford Centre giving them a viable joined up public transport option to get there. People using the bus to get there will also be able to make the most of RHS
