Toulouse centre Santiago Chocobares set to serve suspension before Champions Cup final against Leinster

Toulouse's Santiago Chocobares will be available to face Leinster in the Investec Champions Cup final, with the centre set to serve a two-week ban.

The Argentinian was cited for a dangerous tackle on Luke Northmore during their semi-final victory over Harlequins on 5 May.

An independent disciplinary committee determined that Chocobares had tackled Northmore in a "dangerous and reckless manner that warranted a red card", and the citing complaint was upheld.

The 25-year-old was given a six-week suspension that was reduced to three based on the player's guilty plea and his clear disciplinary record.

That sanction would have made Chocobares unavailable to play in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium clash on Saturday week, however, he is eligible to return a week earlier if he "successfully completes a World Rugby Coaching Intervention", also known as 'tackle school’, a step seen as a formality.

The player and EPCR have the right to appeal the decision.

Chocobares has featured off the bench in five of Toulouse's seven games in Europe this season. He started five matches for the Pumas in their run to the semi-finals of the World Cup.
