Walkers who lost their cars after Snowdonia hike told 'serves you right'

Drivers flouting the rules at a popular beauty spot returned to find their cars had disappeared over the Easter bank holiday. Dozens of cars parked illegally at Eyri National Park, also known as Snowdonia, were towed away.

Police and tow trucks were seen removing vehicles from the side of the A5 in Pen-y-Pass and the Ogwen Valley. It's not the first time parked cars have been towed away from the area.

And it comes despite clear signs warning drivers not to park their cars in the area. The actions of those drivers has become a major talking point online in recent days.

Parking woes are far from unique to North Wales either. Closer to Greater Manchester, TikTok footage showed drivers had flocked to the Peak District over the bank holiday weekend.

On the Manchester Evening News' Facebook page, several readers welcomed the action taken by North Wales Police in Eyri. Nancy Clark commented: "There is an attitude that some people feel they can do what they like, disregarding the impact their actions have on others.

"Well done Wales police for enforcing rules that keep everyone safe." Bridget De Botte said: "They have no respect when they park at beauty spots they just dump their cars.

"I'm glad the they have been towed away. Have consideration for others when you park in future."

Jo Orme simply suggested 'don't park illegally and you won't have your car take', while June Chan had no sympathy for the drivers either, adding: "If you don’t follow the rules what do you except. Serves them right. Towing is the only way to do it. Give them a parking ticket and it’s ignored."
