Aaron Hickey gets grim Euro 2024 injury update as gutted Brentford boss tells Scotland 'it doesn't look positive'

Thomas Frank cut a grave figure when asked for an update on Aaron Hickey's injury - telling Scotland 'it doesn't look positive' for Euro 2024.

Hickey hasn't played for Brentford since October when he went off against Chelsea with a hamstring injury. There had been hopes he could play for the Bees again before the end of the season, but even after Frank quashed that optimism, he left Scotland with a glimmer of hope - saying the club would do 'all they can' to get him fit for Germany.

The former Hearts star has been a key player for Steve Clarke in recent camps and having him back in time for the opener with Germany on June 14 would have been a major boost - particularly with Nathan Patterson possibly out. But the most recent update isn't the most promising. When asked for an update on his Euro 2024 chances, a stone-faced Frank said at his press conference on Thursday: "I am not the manager of Scotland but it doesn't look positive."
