Asmir Begovic 'on' Celtic transfer wishlist as Joe Hart successor search ramps up

Celtic are reportedly keeping tabs on Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Asmir Begovic as they ramp up their search for Joe Hart 's successor.

Parkhead No. 1 Hart will at the end of the season leaving Brendan Rodgers in dire need of a replacement for the new campaign - and reports south of the border now suggest 36-year-old Begovic is on the "shortlist" of options being considered by the Scottish Premiership leaders. The veteran is set to become a free agent in the summer as he approaches the end of his contract with Championship outfit after helping them avoid relegation.

The former Chelsea, Stoke and Everton goalkeeper was the first-choice at Loftus Road this season racking up 36 appearances. But talkSPORT report the former Bosnia international is being "looked at" by Celtic look as one of their "options to replace Hart this summer." However, it is noted that Begovic remains open to extending his stay at QPR.

It claimed that the shot-stopper is looking to decide his future soon with QPR's second-tier status secured. Speaking back in 2022 during the Sydney Super Cup game in Australia, the then-Everton goalkeeper talked up Celtic.

He said: “When you play a team like Celtic you know you're always going to be in for a competitive game. That's exactly what we got today."
