Award-winning Greater Manchester farm has its own hot tub holiday cottage with VIP access to animals

A farm loved by families across Greater Manchester and beyond has its own holiday cottage in the grounds.

Smithills Farm has been entertaining youngsters for more than 20 years now, expanding from a dairy farm into a popular visitor attraction in the heart of the country estate in Bolton.

But while thousands come through the gates to see the cows, sheep, pigs and many other animals, as well as enjoying the other attractions such as the donkey rides and tractor tour, few people realise there's actually a holiday cottage you can rent there too.

The cottage, which opened in autumn 2022, has three bedrooms and sleeps seven people.

The price of a stay includes free farm entry throughout your trip, a cottage hamper, wi-fi, a hot tub and access to evening milking sessions on the farm. The farm's prize-winning Pedigree Holstein Cows, known as the Carldanton Herd, are milked three times a day, with the fresh product delivered to people's doors, along with the farm's popular milkshakes, and the rest of its 'Udderley Delicious' range, including eggs, double cream, butter, yoghurts, cheescakes and ice cream.

There's a farmhouse kitchen in the cottage, a cosy living room and outside furniture to make the most of the nicer weather.

It's proved popular since opening, with many families choosing to book a short break during school holidays, or enjoy a few days with younger children during term time.
