"I was shocked... you don't expect to see Jack Black walking around the streets of Manchester at 9am"

A firefighter snapped a selfie with Hollywood movie star Jack Black after spotting him casually walking around the streets of Manchester on Wednesday morning (May 8).

The A-lister and musician, who is part of rock duo Tenacious D with Kyle Gass, was already in the city for his two highly anticipated performances at the AO Arena on Wednesday and Thursday evening.

After being dropped off along Gartside Street, firefighter Calum Beckett, who grew up watching Black in his hit movie School of Rock, spotted the star walking by with his headphones on.

He wasted no time in approaching the movie star, 54, and asking for a quick selfie with him to show his children. Posting the picture to X, formerly Twitter, he wrote: "Casually bumping into @jackblack in Manchester this morning! What a legend."

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, Calum said: "I had gotten a lift into town and we just pulled up when I looked to my left and saw a man who I thought looked the spit of Jack Black. I thought, 'he even walks like him'.

"I decided to walk behind him and then decided I would ask if it was really him, so I walked to his side and he looked back at me. I looked at him and said 'Jack?' and he nodded his head and shook my hand.

"He didn't say a word - he was cool as you like with his headphones on. The next minute, as I was taking the selfie, other people started to recognise him.

"I was shocked. It's not the person you expect to see on the streets of Manchester on your way to work - a Hollywood A-lister just walking around."
