Ian Wright hits back at Jamie Carragher over 'disrespectful' Manchester United criticism

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has hit back at Jamie Carragher branding his remarks about Manchester United's Casemiro as 'disrespectful' following the team's heavy defeat at Crystal Palace.

The Brazilian midfielder, who was tasked with playing in defence, made a series of mistakes contributing to United's downfall as Palace netted four goals against the Reds. Despite an impressive previous season, Casemiro's performances have been lacklustre this year and it has led to speculation about whether his career is coming to a close in Europe.

His high salary is also becoming a concern as his form dips, to the point where he's no longer seen as an automatic choice for the starting lineup, especially with the rise of younger talent like Kobbie Mainoo. Carragher didn't hold back on Sky Sports, suggesting that Casemiro's days at the pinnacle of football are numbered and advising him to consider moves to leagues like MLS or Saudi Arabia after the current season concludes.

He stated: "Casemiro should know tonight as an experienced player that he should only have another three games left at the top level the next two [Premier] league games and the [FA] cup final then he should be thinking I need to go to the MLS or Saudi. I'm deadly serious his agent, the team of people around him, they need to tell him: this has to stop."
