Jadon Sancho could help Manchester United make difficult Erik ten Hag decision

Manchester United will be seriously contemplating Erik ten Hag's future after yet another disastrous result this week, this time at the hands of Crystal Palace.

Injuries have been difficult to cope with, but the manner in which United folded at Selhurst Park raises questions about the manager. We already know that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not fully convinced by Ten Hag and this was while Champions League football next season was still a possibility.

Now elite European football is out of the question and the Europa League looks increasingly unlikely too. United do have two chances of reaching the second-tier competition, though, albeit the way they are playing beating Manchester City looks almost impossible.

If Ratcliffe was unsure about Ten Hag's future, is unlikely anything he has seen recently would be enough to change his mind. However, the one sticking point for the INEOS founder is how much it would cost to pay off the Dutchman.

The Reds need all the money they can get at the moment as they prepare for a squad overhaul that is desperately needed. Factoring in the unpaid wages of Ten Hag to get him off the books would be added expense which is likely to come out of the transfer budget.

But this is where Jadon Sancho's success at Borussia Dortmund could come to Ratcliffe's aid if he is hell-bent on sacking Ten Hag. United will be receiving a fee of around €7.5m (£6.45m) for the Englishman after his loan spell has gone well in Germany.
