Jamie Carragher delivers brutal Casemiro transfer verdict after Manchester United humiliation

Jamie Carragher has urged Casemiro to leave Manchester United at the end of the season and seek a move to Major League Soccer or the Saudi Pro League after his disastrous performance against Crystal Palace.

The 32-year-old Brazilian, who made the move to Old Trafford from Real Madrid two years ago in a deal worth £70m, was at fault for several of United's goals in Monday's 4-0 thrashing at Selhurst Park, the club's heaviest defeat of the campaign.

Casemiro has two years remaining on his current deal but has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford in 2024, and was called into action on Monday night as a make-shift centre-back as Erik ten Hag was without Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane.

However, Carragher has advised the five-time Champions League winner to consider leaving the Premier League this summer and recalled how he felt when his playing career at Liverpool was coming to an end, warning Casemiro to "leave the football before the football leaves you".

"I said at half-time that he had to bring Casemiro off. I know he’s got kids on the bench but I think Casemiro, I am being deadly serious, should know himself tonight as an experienced player, that he should only have another three games at the top level, the next two league games and the cup final, and thinking I need to go the MLS or Saudi," said Carragher on Monday Night Football.
