Jose Mourinho would 'walk' to Man Utd as view on second stint to replace Erik ten Hag emerges
Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen on a sensational return to Manchester United - despite the clear stance against his reappointment.
The 61-year-old has been without a club since his exit from Roma in January and has expressed a strong yet unlikely desire to be given a second chance at managing the Red Devils. Mourinho, who previously managed Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid, was let go by United in December 2018 after a mixed two-and-a-half-season stint that saw them clinch three trophies but fail to pose a serious threat for the Premier League title.
This was well before Sir Jim Ratcliffe's arrival at the club. Although Mourinho considers the new United co-owner a friend, he doesn't anticipate being approached if Erik ten Hag is sacked. The position of the current boss has been increasingly questioned over recent months, with Monday's dismal 4-0 defeat to 14th-placed Crystal Palace marking a low point in an already disappointing season. If Ratcliffe and his team decide to make a change, the Manchester Evening News reports that Mourinho would be willing to 'walk' back to Old Trafford.
The Portuguese manager, who understands that a reappointment is unlikely, recently claimed that Ten Hag has received significantly more support than he did during his tenure at United - comments that have reportedly annoyed the current Red Devils boss, reports the Mirror.
Mourinho opened up about his tenure at Manchester United, revealing to the Telegraph that while he had a good personal relationship with former executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward, professionally it was a different story. "My relationship with (former United executive vice-chairman) Ed Woodward was good," Mourinho said. "Good as in the personal point of view. Even
