Raphael Borges Rodrigues a Rangers transfer target as Jhon Arias 'interest' addressed in South America - Ibrox news bulletin

Rangers are reportedly considering a move for talented Australian winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues as Philippe Clement beefs things up for the future.

The 20-year-old has four goals and two assists from out wide in the A-League and has been tipped for a move to Europe after his breakout year with MacArthur FC. Football Scotland report that Rangers are interested, with Coventry and Watford also considering swoops. Dutch-born, Rodrigues has represented Australia at youth level right up to under-23 level. He already has an A-League title to his name from his time with Melbourne but his move to MacArthur in 2023 has seen him establish himself as a first-team regular for the first time.

Elsewhere midfielder Jhon Arias has been linked with a move to Rangers in the past. The 26-year-old, a regular for Fluminense and the Colombia national team, is said to be on the Ibrox club's radar after they brought in his compatriot Oscar Cortes in January. But South American journalist Carlos Antonio Velez has shot down the rumours, saying he hopes they are smoke. Tell us how you really feel, Carlos!

He said on X: "Isn’t there something better for such a promising, capable and influential player? Scotland DOES NOT EXIST on the European map of high competition. I hope it’s smoke!"
