The shocking discoveries inside car after police stop woman on major road

Police stopped a car after it was spotted speeding through a red light - then found an 'unrestrained' child sleeping across the back seat.

The car was spotted by officers on Didsbury Road just before 1am this morning (May 9). Police clocked the female driver allegedly going through a red light, before she reportedly reached speeds of 47mph in a 30mph zone.

After officers stopped the vehicle, they found the car had 'three bald tyres' and the driver had no insurance. They then found a child sleeping across the back seat without wearing a seatbelt.

Police shared a picture of the child on X, formerly known as Twitter. GMP's Traffic division said the driver was reported and the vehicle was seized

'Referrals' were also 'submitted', though no further details on this have been provided at this stage. The post on X said: "This vehicle contravened a red traffic light, drove at 47mph in a 30mph zone, had 3 bald tyres and no insurance.

"The driver also failed to ensure her child was restrained correctly, letting him sleep on the back seats. Driver reported, vehicle seized & referals submitted."
