Why Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp clashed as fresh footage of Liverpool touchline bust-up surfaces

A heated exchange between Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah has been captured in fan footage that has rapidly spread across social media.

Following a lacklustre performance in the Merseyside derby, Salah was benched by Klopp for the crucial match at London Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The tension between the pair was palpable as they were spotted arguing on the touchline shortly after West Ham equalised to make it 2-2.

Newly surfaced footage of the incident reveals that Salah and Klopp briefly touched hands before the disagreement. The Egyptian star, who was eventually calmed down by Darwin Nunez at pitchside, stormed off straight down the tunnel at the final whistle. He warned there would be "fire" if he discussed the spat while passing through the mixed zone post-match. Klopp sought to downplay the incident during his own interview. When asked to reveal what was said, he responded: "No. We spoke already in the dressing room, for me that's done.", reports the Mirror.

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch, providing analysis for TNT Sports, admitted the clash didn't look good. He commented: "It didn't look good. I can't say exactly what they're saying, it didn't look good, I don't think it looks good for the club."

"Listen Mo Salah is a player who starts the majority of games for Liverpool, he'll be fuming. He'll be fuming to be on the bench. Players like that who are expected to start are never happy, but no-one likes to see this, between a manager and a real key player."
