Borussia Dortmund chief confirms Jadon Sancho transfer plan amid Manchester United decision

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has revealed talks will be held with Manchester United over the possibility of re-signing Jadon Sancho beyond the summer.

Sancho joined the Bundesliga giants on loan in January after falling out of favour under Erik ten Hag. The forward managed just three appearances for United before being excluded from the squad.

In January, he returned to Dortmund after leaving them in 2021 and has rediscovered the form from earlier in his career. Despite just scoring three goals in 17 games, the England international has played a big part in Dortmund's run to the Champions League semi-final.

Last week, Sancho received raving reviews for his performance against Paris Saint-Germain. His displays in Germany have led to further question marks about his future at Old Trafford.

Ten Hag has remained muted on Sancho's chances of reviving his career in Manchester but Kehl has revealed slightly more detail on the potential of him staying at Dortmund for the 2024/25 season.

Asked about his feelings of the club signing Sancho and Chelsea's Ian Maatsen on permanent deals on TNT Sport, he said: "We will see. They are on loan, both of them, but at the end we need to make any decisions.

"They are under contract with their clubs so it means we will, at a specific point, get in touch and see if it is possible or not. I know that the players are welcome at Dortmund, they feel at home, especially Jadon, he knows our club pretty well.
