Ireland on the hunt for more European Para Swimming Championships medals

Ireland will go looking for more medals at the European Para Swimming Championships on Friday evening, with Róisín Ní Riain, Nicole Turner and Barry McClements all competing in finals.

Ní Riain finished a comfortable second in her 400m freestyle heat to book her place in her fifth final of the competition. She's already claimed golds in the 100m breaststroke and 100m backstroke events, as well as silver in the 100m butterfly.

Fresh off the back of her gold medal win on Thursday night, Turner will line up in the 100m breaststroke final.

Turner touched the wall at the same time as Swiss swimmer Nora Meister to claim joint 50m freestyle gold for her second medal this week (she won bronze in the 200m IM) and a first gold medal at a major championship. Team-mate Dearbhaile Brady was just behind her to take bronze, her first ever major championship medal.

McClements finished third in his heat to progress to the final of the 100m backstroke. On Tuesday he produced a fantastic swim to pick up a bronze in the 100m butterfly.
