Jamie Carragher blasts Antony and Mason Mount with Erik ten Hag theory after Man United horrow show

Jamie Carragher has slammed Antony and Mason Mount for publicly debating Manchester United's 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace as they left the pitch at full-time.

The duo were involved in an animated discussion alongside goalkeeper Andre Onana after goals from Michael Olise (2), Jean-Philippe Mateta and Tyrick Mitchell consigned the Reds to their heaviest Premier League defeat of the season and significantly dented their hopes of securing European football.

After the game, however, when Antony and Mount, both substituted in the second half, were caught consulting one another about the 90 minutes of action at Selhurst Park, Carragher blasted the pair.

"Just get off the pitch! Talking and whispering behind your hand, you have been absolutely awful," said the ex-Liverpool defender. "They are probably talking about one of the players, somebody else or the setup or the manager.

"Just get off the pitch. Shut up and get in, you've been beaten 4-0. Whispering and talking about other players. Honestly...embarrassing."

Defeat at Selhurst Park leaves United eighth in the table, behind Chelsea and Newcastle United, ahead of this weekend's crunch clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford.

As a result, it means United's likeliest route to ensuring European football returns to Old Trafford next season will be via defeating Manchester City in the FA Cup final later this month.
