Champions League winning boss 'in talks' with Manchester United amid Erik ten Hag struggles

Former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick is reportedly in discussions with Manchester United after being dismissed as a potential candidate for the Chelsea job.

Flick has been unemployed since he stepped down from his position as the German national coach last year due to a series of disappointing results. The dismissal marked a significant downfall for the 59-year-old, who had an extraordinary two-year stint at Bayern before taking up the Germany role in 2021.

During the 2019/20 season, he steered the Bavarian giants to a Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and Champions League treble. He continued his success with victories in the European Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup and secured another top-tier title the following season.

Flick departed having suffered only seven losses in all competitions over two years. TBR Football reports that he's now prepared to return to management and is eyeing a position in England.

It is said that his representatives have held discussions with both United and West Ham United, notifying the Premier League clubs of his availability. At present, neither club has a vacancy, but both are widely expected to undergo managerial changes in the summer.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, Erik ten Hag has insisted that he anticipates being at the helm for the upcoming season. However, new minority stakeholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe has declined to offer any public backing to the Dutchman since coming on board in December.
